Khamenei’s Advisor stresses the importance of the Americans leaving the region and describes Iraq as “the most important country in the region”

Baghdad The Advisor to the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Akbar Velayati, stressed today, Sunday, the “necessity of the Americans leaving the region,” describing Iraq as currently in its strongest condition.

Velayati said, during the reception of former Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi, who is visiting Iran, according to the Iranian Fars Agency, that “the success of the elections in Iraq was due to the union of all the Iraqi people, as these elections provide a new ground for Iraq’s active role in the Islamic and Arab world as the most important country in the region.”

He expressed his hope that everyone will witness more success for the Iraqi people and their government, stressing that “Iran stands by this Muslim people.”

Velayati referred to the current situation in the region, regional developments, and conspiracies hatched by enemies, especially the Americans, saying: “These people must leave the region because they are constantly working to weaken and divide Islamic countries and stir up discord among the Islamic nation.”

For his part, Abdul-Mahdi praised Iran’s efforts to enhance regional security and stability, and considered them commendable, stressing that “the Iraqi people have passed a very difficult stage, but the situation at the moment is improving and everyone is witnessing good and great developments in Iraq.”
