Baghdad: Khamis al-Khanjar, head of the National Sovereignty Alliance (Syiada), participated in the 2025 Iraqi Council of Representatives elections by casting his vote at the National Center inside al-Rashid Hotel in central Baghdad. Al-Khanjar highlighted the election’s significance, stating it would shape Iraq’s destiny for the next two decades amid regional changes and challenges.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Khanjar expressed that the election is an opportunity to build robust state institutions that safeguard citizen rights and ensure equality. He emphasized transforming Iraq into a formidable state within the Arab, Islamic, and international communities by encouraging all Iraqis to make informed choices.
Al-Khanjar further noted the anticipation surrounding the election results, which differ from previous ones due to a strong belief in state sovereignty and institutional cooperation. He expressed optimism that the electoral process would proceed smoothly and transparently, leading to the formation of a new government.
