Baghdad: Kirkuk Governor Mohammed Samaan Agha on Wednesday reaffirmed his firm support for Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi’s plans and efforts to protect Iraq’s sovereignty.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Agha expressed his backing for the prime minister’s initiatives aimed at safeguarding Iraq’s sovereignty and enhancing its regional, Arab, and international relations. These efforts are intended to help restore Iraq’s standing and presence while preserving the unity, dignity, and security of the Iraqi people, with particular emphasis on the rights of all its communities, especially the Turkmen community.

Agha stated that their national positions, principles, commitment to the government’s approach, support for security forces across all branches, and adherence to decisions issued by the Council of Ministers, the State Administration Council, and the Council of Representatives have led to criticism from those who have long controlled Kirkuk province’s resources. He noted that these critics have been removed from the essence of partnership and justice.

He further mentioned that some have taken their statements out of context, distorting them according to a narrow perspective while ignoring their history, positions, presence, and voice. Agha emphasized that their position will remain steadfast toward Iraq, underscoring the commitment of Iraqi Turkmen and all components of the Iraqi people to uphold the nation’s authenticity, history, sacrifices, and the heroism of its security forces.
