Erbil: The Ministry of Interior of the Kurdistan Regional Government has confirmed that the region has endured numerous drone and missile attacks in recent years. Despite identifying the source of these assaults and forming joint committees with Baghdad, no legal measures have been implemented, the ministry stated.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry emphasized the federal government’s responsibility to uncover facts and prevent future threats to the Kurdistan Region and other parts of Iraq. They criticized the lack of action against those responsible, even with conclusive evidence and coordination at the highest levels between the regional and federal authorities.

The Ministry of Interior highlighted the importance of prioritizing the protection of citizens and maintaining the country’s sovereignty and stability, urging both federal and regional institutions to act without political bias. These attacks, they claimed, were designed to sow chaos by spreading false rumors of “Israeli sites” in the region, which the ministry firmly denied.

In response, Major General Sabah al-Numan, spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, condemned the accusations and called for evidence to be presented through official channels. He warned that media statements could undermine Iraqi security institutions by providing opportunities for adversaries.

The Kurdistan region, particularly Erbil, has faced repeated targeting incidents, with ongoing mutual accusations and calls from Erbil for decisive federal action remaining unanswered.
