Kuwait city: Kuwait lost former Oil Minister Imad Al-Ateeqi today, Thursday. His body will be buried tomorrow, Friday, in Sulaibikhat Cemetery.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Ateeqi is considered one of the most accomplished people who contributed to Kuwait’s development and progress. He possesses a rich record of experience, particularly in the oil and petrochemical sector. He holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in chemical engineering from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, USA, in 1985.
He held important and influential positions, most recently Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil in January 2024. He was a faculty member in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the College of Engineering and Petroleum at Kuwait University, and served as Director of the Petroleum, Petrochemicals, and Materials Department at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research from 1988 to 1990.
He also served as Director of the Research Department at Kuwait University from 1991 to 1994, and as Dean of the College of Engineering and Petroleum at Kuwait University from 1998 to 2000.
