London: A meeting initially scheduled for Wednesday in London, aimed at discussing strategies for peace in Ukraine, has been postponed following Kyiv’s rejection of a US proposal concerning Crimea’s future. The British government announced that the talks, which were to include foreign ministers from several countries, will now occur with reduced representation and will not be open to the media.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the British Foreign Office issued a statement confirming the postponement of the Ukrainian peace talks. The statement noted that while official discussions will continue, they will be closed to public and media access. This decision follows Kyiv’s firm opposition to a US plan that would recognize Russia’s sovereignty over Crimea, a critical stumbling block in negotiations.

Local media sources further reported that British Foreign Secretary David Lammy and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will not attend the rescheduled talks. Diplomats from Britain, the United States, France, Germany, and Ukraine had intended to participate in high-level discussions in London to explore ways to resolve the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. However, with the postponement, these plans have been altered.

Marco Rubio was expected to be in London today to meet with David Lammy and his counterparts from Ukraine, France, and Germany. However, the visit was postponed on Tuesday, leading to Paris and Berlin delaying their ministers’ travel arrangements following the announcement of the postponement.
