Landmine Explosion in Latakia Countryside Injures Journalists and Soldier

Latakia: A landmine explosion in the Latakia countryside has injured two journalists and a Syrian army soldier.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the incident involved Sevket Ak§a, a correspondent for the Turkish Anadolu Agency in Damascus, and Hassan Hashem, a correspondent for the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The journalists were covering a mine-clearing operation conducted by the Syrian army when the explosion occurred. Both correspondents, along with the soldier, suffered severe injuries, resulting in the loss of a leg for each individual involved.

The area where the explosion took place was reportedly mined by the Bashar al-Assad regime. The mines were planted along the borders of the regions controlled by the regime in the Latakia countryside to halt the advancement of opposition forces. This incident highlights the ongoing dangers present in conflict zones within Syria.
