Mosul: The largest mass grave in human history, located south of Mosul, is set to be opened, marking a significant step in addressing the atrocities committed in the region. Nineveh Governor Abdul Qadir al-Dakhil and the Chief Justice of the Nineveh Court of Appeal announced the official launch of the exhumation of al-Khasfa cemetery on Sunday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the governorate stated that the procedure is being carried out under the direct supervision of judicial, security, medical, and technical authorities. The aim is to document the crimes committed against the Iraqi people and to seek justice for the martyrs and their families within a legal and humanitarian framework.

Al-Khasfa mass grave is located in a desert area south of Mosul, containing the remains of thousands of civilians and soldiers executed by ISIS terrorist gangs after they occupied the city of Mosul from 2014 to 2017.
