Lavrov Reaffirms Russia’s Initiative for Regional Dialogue with Iraq and Arab League

Moscow: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced the renewal of Russia's initiative for dialogue in the region, involving Iraq and the Arab League. This move aims to foster cooperation and stability in a region marked by longstanding tensions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Lavrov, during a press conference, emphasized the significance of this initiative and noted the support from China, Egypt, and Pakistan. He highlighted that Iran has expressed its willingness to engage in dialogue, underscoring a collective regional effort to enhance diplomatic relations.

Lavrov further acknowledged Pakistan's vital role in mediating the dialogue process. He warned of attempts by certain actors to disrupt the rapprochement between Iran and the Gulf states, aiming to create a broader coalition against Iran.

Moreover, Lavrov stressed the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as a crucial artery for global trade that is currently experiencing increased restrictions. This underscores the urgency for dialogue to ensure the free passage of goods and bolster economic stability in the region.
