Lebanese Interior Minister Reaffirms Commitment to Implementing Resolution 1701.


Beirut: Lebanese Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi confirmed on Monday evening his country’s commitment to implementing Resolution 1701 because it is the only basis for achieving security. Mawlawi emphasized the readiness of the Lebanese army to be deployed in the south of the country, taking responsibility for military movements south of the Litani River. He firmly stated that Lebanon would not accept any persistent attempts by what he referred to as the “Zionist enemy” to control Lebanese airspace and violate its sovereignty.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Mawlawi addressed the issue of displacement, noting that Lebanon has successfully managed the crisis. He highlighted the effective response of security forces and the army in dealing with the situation, which resulted in minimal problems. Mawlawi praised the unity and cohesiveness of the Lebanese people during these challenging times.

Furthermore, Mawlawi called for an immediate ceasefire in response to ongoing Zionist violations, raids, and at
tacks. He reiterated Lebanon’s demand for a swift cessation of hostilities to ensure peace and stability in the region.
