Beirut: The Lebanese Parliament renewed its confidence in Nawaf Salam’s government on Wednesday by a majority vote. Sixty-eight members of parliament voted to renew confidence in the government, while 12 voted against it, and two abstained.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, at the conclusion of the parliamentary session to question the government, Nawaf Salam stated, “The tripartite framework is a political framework for negotiations, not an agreement or treaty in the legal sense. It includes a phased Israeli withdrawal and calls for the exclusive sovereignty of the Lebanese state over its territory. Our position at the negotiating table is stronger when we all stand behind the state.”

He added, “The more we strengthen our national unity and extend the authority of the state alone over all its territory, the more we strengthen our power and our ability to secure our rights.”
