Beirut: Lebanese President Joseph Aoun described the targeting of the southern suburbs of Beirut on Sunday as clear evidence of Israel's repeated disregard for international calls to halt its attacks, emphasizing the continued tension in the region and the escalating security risks.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a press statement, Aoun said that Israel's targeting of the southern suburbs is further proof that it is indifferent to repeated calls to stop its attacks. Aoun added, "We reiterate our call to the international community to assume its responsibility and intervene forcefully and seriously to stop the attacks on Lebanon."

An Israeli airstrike targeting the southern suburbs of Beirut on Sunday resulted in the death of one person and injuries to 21 others, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health. This came hours after the Israeli army announced that it had targeted what it described as the "Chief of Staff" of Hezbollah.
