Beirut: Lebanese Finance Minister Yassin Jaber announced his country’s readiness to pay the dues for Iraqi fuel supplied to Lebanon. Jaber stated that he “met with the Charg© d’Affaires of the Iraqi Embassy in Beirut, Mohammed Redha al-Husseini, and reviewed the upcoming visit of the Lebanese ministerial delegation to Iraq, which will address bilateral relations.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Minister Jaber emphasized that the discussions focused on ensuring the program of the upcoming visit to Iraq includes significant topics for implementation. These topics include the signing of the double taxation agreement between Lebanon and Iraq, the completion of procedures for supplying the Iraqi oil pipeline to Tarabis in northern Lebanon, and the development of the communications cable.

He further explained that Iraq’s financial dues from the Lebanese state are now available, with pending actions from the Central Bank of Iraq to activate the platform necessary for supplying these funds. This activation will facilitate the use of funds by Iraqi businessmen and citizens and ease travel and movement between Lebanon and Iraq.
