Luring and Kidnapping a Woman for Extortion: Maysan Police Solve the Crime and Arrest the Suspect


Amarah: The Maysan Governorate Police Command announced on Friday the arrest of a suspect who lured and kidnapped a woman for financial extortion in the city of Amarah. Maysan Police Chief, Major General Numan Muhammad Ni’ma, stated in a press release that following a complaint from the victim’s family, he directed the Anti-Crime Department – Kidnapping Division – to form an immediate team to investigate the case, under his direct supervision.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the field efforts and rapid response to the crime scene, along with the technical efforts of the Maysan Information and Technology Department, led to locating the suspect, who was subsequently apprehended. He noted that the suspect’s statement was recorded, and he confessed to the crime. Legal procedures were initiated against him, and he was detained under Article 421 of the Iraqi Penal Code, pending his referral to the competent court.



The Maysan Police Chief affirmed that the police command will continue to pursue anyone who attempts to undermine the security of citizens and the stability of families, and will take legal action against them.
