Damascus: French President Emmanuel Macron affirmed on Tuesday that his country is working to provide all the necessary conditions for the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland, stressing that the Syrian people’s desire to live in a country enjoying full sovereignty and security cannot be undermined by any party. Speaking at a joint press conference with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, the French president said his visit to Syria would continue, emphasizing his country’s commitment to supporting the Syrian people and their interests, and its determination not to abandon them.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Macron added that France was among the first countries to lift sanctions on Syria, noting that there are further plans to continue working and cooperating with Damascus in the coming phase. The French president explained that while Syria faces numerous challenges, it also possesses opportunities that can open new avenues for cooperation, pointing to opportunities for French companies to contribute in various sectors.

He affirmed that France “stands with the Syrian people and their interests,” indicating its continued support for efforts aimed at achieving stability and strengthening security in Syria. For his part, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa said that Syria has become an indispensable link in the global transit market, noting that “Syria has regained its vital role in the region through its geographical location, and we want France to be our primary partner in the global transit market. Whoever invested in Syria early will profit early.”
