Singapore: French President Emmanuel Macron said on Friday that recognizing a Palestinian state is not “just a moral duty, but a political demand,” pointing to what he described as “some conditions” for doing so.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during a press conference in Singapore, Macron emphasized that Europeans must “tighten their collective stance” toward Israel “if it does not provide a response commensurate with the humanitarian situation in the coming hours and days” in the Gaza Strip.

Macron pointed to what he described as conditions for this recognition, which he said relate to the “release of hostages” held by Hamas, their “disarmament,” and the movement’s “non-participation” in running state affairs. He also called for “reforming the Palestinian Authority,” the “future state’s” recognition of Israel and its “right to live in security,” and the “establishment of a security structure throughout the region.”
