Mahmoud Othman Calls for Iraq to Take Preventive Measures Against Potential Israeli Aggression

Baghdad: Independent Kurdish politician Mahmoud Othman has expressed concerns over the potential threat of Israeli aggression towards Iraq and the region. He is advocating for a series of actions to prevent any future Israeli attacks on Iraq.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Othman stated that Israel’s recent aggression against Iran, which was carried out without justification or international approval, highlights a pattern of indifference towards global opinion. Similar actions have been observed in Gaza and Lebanon, where Israel acted without any significant deterrence from international entities.

Othman emphasized that Iraq could be vulnerable to Israeli aggression, particularly if Iraqi armed groups decide to support Iran militarily. He stressed the importance of addressing this risk promptly.

He urged for the unification of internal efforts and alignment among all political factions, ethnic groups, and sects-including Sunnis, Shiites, and Kurds-to maintain a unified stance on regional developments. This includes preventing any Iraqi faction from engaging in the conflict between Iran and Israel, adhering to international resolutions, and promoting initiatives to resolve the conflict. Othman also highlighted the need for Iraq to activate agreements with the United States and other major powers to avert the threat of war.

Othman remarked that Israel’s actions, supported by some Western countries, disregard international organizations and result in widespread destruction. He pointed out that this pattern of aggression, as witnessed in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran, poses a significant danger to Iraq and the entire region.
