Baghdad: Independent Kurdish politician Mahmoud Othman asserted that “nothing serious is expected to occur in Iraq after September 30th. While some security breaches may occur, they will be contained.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Othman expressed concerns over the situation in Iraq following the withdrawal of the international coalition forces on September 30th, describing it as worrying. He highlighted the ambiguity surrounding the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq, noting the uncertainty about their next destination, whether it be Syria, Kuwait, or another country.

He emphasized the significance of Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi’s upcoming visit to the United States and his meeting with the US President. This visit is expected to be crucial for both nations to clarify their future security relationship, particularly in light of the growing American investments in Iraq.

Othman also mentioned that the dynamics between Iran and the United States have a direct impact on Iraq across various se
ctors. He stressed the necessity for internal solutions to prevent Iraq from facing new crises and problems that could further burden the Iraqi populace.
