Baghdad: Major General Atheer Hamza Jassim has been appointed as the commander of Basra Operations. He will be taking over from Lieutenant General Saad Ali Oraibi.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the decision to appoint Major General Atheer Hamza Jassim was made to bring a new leadership direction to the Basra Operations. Lieutenant General Saad Ali Oraibi, the outgoing commander, has been replaced as part of this strategic change.
