Baquba: A security detachment arrested a man in his possession of narcotics northeast of Baquba, the capital of Diyala Governorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a security detachment, supported by canine units, arrested the man during a vehicle and person search at the Bawa Mahmoud security checkpoint. The man was found to be in his possession of narcotics.

The source added that the necessary legal procedures were taken against him and he was referred to the relevant authorities. The source emphasized that security forces will continue to strengthen preventative measures and intensify searches at all checkpoints to curb the smuggling and distribution of narcotics, in order to maintain the security and safety of citizens.
