Martyrs and Wounded in Shelling of Displaced Persons’ Tents in Gaza Amid Rising Tensions

Gaza city: Six Palestinians were killed and more than ten others wounded in an Israeli shelling of displaced persons’ tents in the Al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Yunis. This incident comes amid escalating hostilities in the Gaza Strip and reports of Israeli soldiers’ deaths.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Western media reported injuries among Palestinians due to Israeli shelling targeting tents housing displaced persons within a shelter school in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, north of Gaza City. This attack coincided with Israeli artillery targeting areas around the Shuja’iyya junction, east of Gaza City.

Sources from Gaza Strip hospitals indicated that 55 Palestinians were killed on Friday due to Israeli raids across multiple areas in the Strip, including six aid recipients. An Israeli shelling targeted civilians near a school in the Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, resulting in additional casualties.

In the ongoing field developments, the Israeli occupation army announced the deaths of two soldiers in Gaza on Friday. These soldiers were killed in separate incidents, one in the northern Gaza Strip and the other in the south. The Israeli army identified one of the deceased soldiers as Asaf Zamir, who was killed following an anti-tank missile attack in Khan Yunis, which also injured four others.

Israeli Army Radio detailed that the missile targeted a tank on an offensive mission, leading to Asaf Zamir’s death and injuring three soldiers inside the tank. During a subsequent rescue operation, another explosion occurred in the tank, possibly due to an explosive device or another anti-tank missile, injuring a company commander.

In a separate incident, the Israeli army confirmed the death of soldier Yair Eliyahu in an operational accident in the northern Gaza Strip. The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported that Eliyahu was killed in a collision between two vehicles during a Northern Brigade forces operation in Beit Hanoun.

The Israeli Defense Minister described the day as challenging, with casualties from both the Engineering Corps and the Armored Corps. Meanwhile, the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), claimed responsibility for targeting an Israeli Merkava tank east of the Tuffah neighborhood in Gaza City and a command and control site in the area with mortar shells on Friday.
