Kurdistan regional government: Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani affirmed on Thursday the Region’s firm commitment to fully supporting the government of Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi in facing political, security, and economic challenges. Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the American University of Kurdistan in Duhok, Barzani said, “We immediately took the initiative to build bridges of communication with our partners in Baghdad. Today, our joint efforts are laying the foundations of a new Iraq under the government led by Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi, a government we are fully committed to supporting as it confronts the political, security, and economic challenges buffeting Iraq and the entire region.”
According to Iraqi News Agency, Barzani emphasized that their support has not been limited to mere statements and words. He highlighted the Kurdistan Region’s proactive role during the conflict in the Strait of Hormuz, where it supported Iraqi oil exports and intensified its contribution to the export process. Barzani also mentioned the Region’s initiative to provide electricity to Iraqi citizens outside the Region during critical times, even when the Kurdistan Region itself was in dire need of it.
Barzani further elaborated on the significance of true partnership and the tangible proof of building Iraqi state institutions on the ground. He stated, “We fully understand what robust institutions mean to the ordinary citizen; they signify justice, stability, and a future built on competence and talent, rather than on cronyism and personal connections.”
