Damascus: Western media outlets reported on Friday evening that loud explosions were clearly heard in the Syrian capital, Damascus. They added that the area surrounding the Mezzeh 86 district was targeted, likely by a missile fired from a drone. They also reported that ambulance sirens could be clearly heard in the Mezzeh area.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that an explosion rocked the Mezzeh district of Damascus and that its nature was being investigated. Local media indicated that an unidentified explosive device fell in Mezzeh 86, killing a woman in her thirties and injuring others.

Some reports indicated that three explosions shook Mezzeh in Damascus, a sensitive area containing numerous security and military installations, making it a potential target for many attacks. They stated that the explosions occurred in the Mezzeh area and in the western villas near the Rahman Mosque.

Local sources also told Al-Watan newspaper that a missile fell on the street near Fadi Supermarket, leading to a large-scale security alert and the deployment of patrols in the surrounding streets.
