Mayor of Baghdad Emphasizes Inclusivity During Visit to Church of the Virgin Mary

Baghdad: The Mayor of Baghdad, Engineer Ammar Musa Kadhim, visited the Church of the Virgin Mary in the Al-Maidan area, located within the historic center of Baghdad, to join Iraqi Christians in celebrating the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The visit was marked by the presence of key figures, including the Head of the Religious Endowments Office, the Head of the Armenian Orthodox Church in Iraq, and the Director of the Rusafa Municipality.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the visit, Mayor Kadhim reaffirmed Baghdad’s identity as a city that embraces all faiths and cultures. He highlighted the commitment of the Baghdad Municipality to serve all communities, support religious sites, and maintain the historical heritage of the capital. The Mayor’s visit underscores the city’s ongoing efforts to foster unity and inclusivity among its diverse population.
