Baghdad: Maysan Oil Company announced on Sunday the marketing of a shipment of 440 tons of sulfur in preparation for export to global markets. The shipment, produced at the Central Gas Processing Plant (GPP) in the Halfaya field, was marketed through a local company to the Iraqi Oil Marketing Company (SOMO), which will handle its export to global markets.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the company highlighted this effort as a new achievement, showcasing its success in utilizing associated gas and maximizing the economic value of its products. This marks the third product extracted from gas processing operations at the Central Gas Processing Plant in the Halfaya field, following dry gas supplied to power generation plants and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) used for cooking and vehicle fueling across various governorates in the country.

The company's Director General, Hussein Kadhim Laibi, emphasized that this achievement is a significant step in the company's strategy to convert associated gas into value-added products. This initiative not only contributes to increased revenue and supports national industry but also plays a role in reducing gas flaring, limiting emissions, and protecting the environment.
