Baghdad: American media outlets reported on a draft resolution from the Peace Council on Gaza, indicating that Trump, as head of the council, would be permitted to nominate senior officials who would assist in managing Gaza and define their responsibilities. They added that “Trump would have the authority to approve decisions and suspend them in emergency situations.”
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the resolution designates the United States as “responsible for the Gaza Strip,” while other countries and entities would play supporting roles. Individuals and entities cooperating with Hamas are prohibited from participating in the administration or reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
Former UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Nikolay Mladenov, is tasked with overseeing the Palestinian National Committee for the Administration of the Strip.
