Meeting With An Iranian Diplomat.. Hammoudi Calls For Activating Popular Diplomacy And Community Dialogue

Baghdad The President of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq Sheikh Hammam Hammoudi called for activating popular diplomacy between Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran by strengthening parliamentary communication, cooperation between civil society institutions, and establishing joint activities, as well as activating community dialogue in support of the official effort.

During his meeting with the official spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Saeed Khatibzadeh, he stressed that: the situation in Iraq has become good, and is heading towards a transitional phase through early elections, which he hopes will be transparent, and a project for positive change towards building a decent, just and capable state, in a way that enhances Iraq’s role in the region and its international standing.

For his part, Saeed Khatibzadeh expressed, according to a statement by Hammoudi’s office, the Islamic Republic’s satisfaction with the transformations that Iraq is witnessing, and its support for early elections, and for any direction that enhances the interests of the two countries and serving their people, stressing Iran’s keenness to see a strong and stable Iraq enjoying full national sovereignty.
