Baghdad: Five people were killed and two others injured this morning when a minibus veered off a mountain bend and into a valley on the outskirts of Antalya province in southwestern Turkey.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Antalya Governor Hulusi Sahin stated in a press conference at the scene that the victims were from two families, including children. The families were traveling from Konya province to Antalya for the weekend. Governor Sahin explained that an improper overtaking maneuver on a mountain bend led to the minibus veering off the road and plunging into the valley.

Sahin noted that national gendarmerie and ambulance teams quickly responded to the incident and reached the crash site. The two injured individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were transported to a forensic medicine center for further examination.
