Baghdad: The Acting Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, Sarwa Abdul Wahid, has taken decisive action to implement administrative changes targeting directors who have been underperforming, and has put an end to the practice of dual employment in administrative roles. She stressed the importance of competence, commitment, and results-oriented management as the core criteria in overseeing the ministry’s various departments.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry released a statement highlighting that the minister conducted a tour of several departments and units to observe the workflow, assess administrative performance, and identify key challenges faced by employees. During her visit, Abdul Wahid engaged with staff to gather their insights and suggestions on overcoming obstacles that impede workflow, and instructed that necessary actions be taken in line with legal and administrative frameworks to foster a conducive work environment and boost performance efficiency.

The minister reiterated that those in administrative roles must efficiently execute their responsibilities and emphasized the importance of competence, commitment, and achievement as foundational principles of the ministry’s operations. She called for the cessation of dual employment in administrative positions to ensure clear delineation of duties and responsibilities, thereby preventing jurisdictional overlaps and enhancing accountability and administrative performance.
