Minister of Finance Participates in Arab-Turkish Economic Forum in Istanbul


ISTANBUL: Minister of Finance Taif Sami participated in the fifteenth session of the Arab-Turkish Economic Forum, currently taking place in Istanbul. The event gathered government officials, businessmen, and investors from Arab countries and Turkey, along with Arab finance ministers, to discuss economic and investment cooperation.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the forum this year is focused on enhancing economic and investment ties between Arab nations and Turkey, with particular emphasis on energy, infrastructure, manufacturing industries, and technology. During the session, the Minister of Finance delivered a speech highlighting the importance of economic partnership in fostering growth and financial stability in the region.

Sami, in her speech, underscored the forum’s role as a platform for exchanging experiences and building long-term strategic partnerships. She emphasized the need to enhance joint investments and increase trade volume between Arab countries and Turkey, especially amid curren
t global economic challenges.

The Minister also pointed out the significance of completing the global trade corridor, leveraging Turkey’s strategic location and the Arab region as a bridge connecting major global markets in Asia, Europe, and Africa. This corridor aims to facilitate efficient trade movement and expand investment and energy pathways.

Additionally, Sami mentioned Iraq’s collaboration with the World Bank to establish and rehabilitate railways as part of the development road project, which is strategically important for linking Asia with Europe and generating economic and development benefits for Iraq and regional countries.

The statement concluded by noting that the Minister of Finance engaged in a series of bilateral meetings with Turkish officials and counterparts from Arab countries to discuss enhancing financial and investment cooperation and addressing issues of common interest.
