Baghdad: Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Supreme Security Committee for the Arab Summit, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, chaired an expanded meeting on Sunday with all security agencies tasked with ensuring the success of the upcoming Arab Summit in Baghdad on May 17. The meeting focused on presenting detailed security plans to ensure the safety and success of this significant event.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Minister issued several key recommendations during the meeting. These included securing areas involved in the summit’s activities and emphasizing the importance of high-level coordination among all security forces assigned to this mission. Al-Shammari instructed the agencies to avoid an armed presence, facilitate vehicle movement, and prevent traffic congestion.

Furthermore, Al-Shammari emphasized fulfilling all safety requirements for the Civil Defense Directorate. He stressed the necessity for full compliance with the security plans, ensuring an optimal follow-up on duties and tasks to provide a secure and suitable environment for all leaders and delegations visiting Iraq.

The Minister also received a briefing on the executive plans for securing the summit and was informed about the schedule for security exercises aimed at demonstrating the readiness of security formations.
