Minister of Justice and French Ambassador Discuss Enhanced Judicial Cooperation

Baghdad: The Minister of Justice, Dr. Khalid Shawani, recently held a meeting with the French Ambassador to Iraq, Patrick Durel, at the Ministry headquarters to explore ways to enhance judicial and legal cooperation between Iraq and France.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry's press release highlighted that the discussions focused on strengthening judicial and legal cooperation and exchanging legal expertise. This initiative is expected to contribute to the development of institutional capacities and improve the efficiency of judicial work in Iraq. The meeting also covered potential cooperation in training correctional staff, with an emphasis on correctional officers. Plans for organizing specialized training courses that adhere to international best practices for handling inmates while maintaining legal and humanitarian standards were also on the agenda.

Additionally, the French Ambassador expressed France's readiness to collaborate with the Iraqi Ministry of Justice across various judicial and legal domains. This cooperation aims to consolidate bilateral relations, develop the partnership between Baghdad and Paris, and strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
