Baghdad: Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Ahmed Al-Asadi met with the British Ambassador to Iraq, Irfan Siddiq, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between Iraq and the United Kingdom on a number of issues of mutual interest.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Minister emphasized the importance of Iraqi-British relations, particularly in areas related to the labor market and skills development. This cooperation aims to support the investment environment and encourage foreign companies operating in Iraq to comply with Iraqi laws and regulations.
During the meeting, discussions were held regarding the situation of foreign companies investing in Iraq and the necessity of including their employees under the social security umbrella to guarantee their rights. The Minister reviewed the benefits provided by the Retirement and Social Security Law for workers and its role in promoting job stability and improving the work environment.
The meeting also addressed the importance of adhering to occupational health and safety procedures in workplaces, ways to support the activities of the National Center for Occupational Health and Safety, and the possibility of cooperation in competency-based vocational training. Furthermore, support for language labs and the development of language skills for workers and employees through modern curricula offered by the British Council was discussed.
