Baghdad: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning Mohammed Ali Tamim met with Jordanian Minister of Trade and Industry Yarub Al-Qudah to discuss the prospects for cooperation between Iraq and Jordan in various fields.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting, held on Sunday and attended by the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Maher Al-Tarawneh, focused on enhancing joint endeavors in economic, industrial, commercial, and investment sectors. The discussions included strategies for developing these areas to benefit both nations.

The talks also explored the possibility of leveraging Jordan’s expertise in pharmaceutical manufacturing. This includes attracting Jordanian investors to Iraq to establish production lines for medicines, construction materials, and food processing industries. Additionally, cooperation in standardization, quality control, specifications, and quality certification was discussed to further support joint trade and industrial activities between the two countries.

Jordanian Minister Al-Qudah lauded Iraq’s progress over the past two years and expressed Jordan’s commitment to bolstering cooperation and supporting Iraq’s development. He highlighted the steady growth in relations, noting that the Joint Trade Committee would convene in Baghdad for the first time to activate existing memoranda of understanding and agreements between Jordan and Iraq.
