Minister of Planning and UNEP Executive Director Discuss Joint Cooperation in Nairobi


Nairobi: Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Planning, Mohammed Ali Tamim, engaged in discussions with Inger Andersen, the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), focusing on ways to strengthen joint cooperation between Iraq and UNEP in the environmental sector.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting highlighted Iraq’s commitment to fostering partnerships with international bodies to enhance the environmental landscape within the country. The Minister emphasized the importance of aligning these efforts with the Sustainable Development Goals and Iraq’s national development strategies to improve the overall environmental situation.



Inger Andersen reiterated UNEP’s commitment to aiding Iraq in its environmental initiatives. She expressed the organization’s readiness to support Iraq in tackling environmental challenges and mitigating climate change impacts, ultimately aiming for a sustainable and healthier environment for Iraqi citizens.
