Baghdad: Minister of Trade Mustafa Nizar Al-Ani engaged in discussions with US Charg© d’Affaires in Baghdad, Steven Fagin, focusing on enhancing economic and trade cooperation between Iraq and the United States, along with expanding partnership horizons across various sectors.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the meeting, Al-Ani highlighted the Iraqi government’s commitment to strengthening economic and trade relations with the United States. He emphasized the expansion of US companies’ participation in the Iraqi market, support for the private sector, and the creation of an environment conducive to investments and commercial partnerships.

The discussions between the two officials also covered the activation of memoranda of understanding and contracts in several sectors, particularly oil, gas, and health. They explored new investment opportunities and projects and discussed the activation of the Iraqi-American Business Council to support trade and investment exchanges.

Minister Al-Ani invited US companies to participate in the 50th session of the Baghdad International Fair, emphasizing the fair’s significance as a platform for showcasing companies and investment opportunities in Iraq. This event is seen as an avenue for US companies to enter the Iraqi market.

The US Charg© d’Affaires praised the efforts of the Ministry of Trade in developing economic relations and confirmed the United States’ interest in strengthening cooperation and encouraging US companies to invest in Iraq.
