Baghdad Minister of Water Resources, Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani, confirmed: “Changing river courses represents forced displacement because it changes the geography and demography of the region.”

Al-Hamdani said in a televised statement: “The Iranian side insists on speaking in accordance with the 1975 agreement on water, and this matter needs a political decision from the parliament or the government.”
