Baghdad Minister of Water Resources, Engineer Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani, confirmed that the current expectations indicate the continuation of water scarcity for the fourth consecutive season.

The ministry quoted al-Hamdani, while attending a panel discussion on water resources in the Kurdistan region, that the rains did not come early during the current season, stressing that the ministry among its priorities is to provide drinking water first and then other needs.

He added that the ministry has accurate information on groundwater reservoirs throughout the country and it is constantly updated, stressing the need to provide the necessary financial allocations for the ministry’s work to achieve the ambitious plan of the Ministry of Water Resources to overcome the current water scarcity crisis.
