Baghdad: The Ministerial Council for the Economy has given the green light for the launch of projects aimed at accommodating million-person visits, with a focus on infrastructure development. This decision was made during the Council’s twentieth session, which was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Chairman of the Ministerial Council for the Economy, Fuad Hussein. The session was attended by key figures including the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Planning, and Ministers of Finance, Trade, Agriculture, Industry, Labor and Social Affairs, along with other senior officials.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Council discussed and made decisions on various agenda items, while also being briefed on the latest political and security developments in the Middle East. The Council Chairman, Fuad Hussein, highlighted the importance of pursuing diplomatic solutions through dialogue and negotiations, rather than resorting to military actions, to resolve regional issues.

The Council also addressed a request from the Ministry of Health, approving an exemption for the Swiss company Novartis’ cancer drug products from government contract controls, recognizing the vital role of these drugs for cancer patients. Furthermore, the Ministry of Planning’s proposal to begin the Million-Visit Projects focusing on infrastructure was approved. The Council reviewed an economic policy reform study, directing its distribution to sectoral entities for implementation and enhancement of their respective sectors.
