Baghdad: The Ministerial Council for the Economy, chaired by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, convened to discuss strategies for reducing expenditures and enhancing state resources in line with existing laws. The meeting, held on Monday, was part of ongoing efforts to streamline economic operations in the country.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Media Office released a statement highlighting the meeting’s focus on maximizing resources and minimizing expenditures. The council explored various frameworks and strategies to achieve these objectives while ensuring compliance with applicable laws. Key topics included the Ministry of Oil’s subsidy rates and financial strategies, as well as spending reduction proposals from different government entities.
The discussions also covered support mechanisms from the Export Support Fund, the introduction of loan support, and initiatives to foster a thriving economic environment for the non-oil sector. These measures are aimed at resource diversification and economic stability. At the meeting’s conclusion, the Prime Minister instructed the formation of specialized technical committees to further investigate proposals that align with the government’s economic plans.
