Ministry of Culture Focuses on Government Program Implementation


Baghdad: The Ministry of Culture is actively working on the preparation of the government program, ensuring the implementation of priorities through a defined vision. Acting Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, Ms. Sarwa Abdul Wahid, led a meeting to follow up on the progress of the ministry’s government program. This meeting, held on June 30, 2026, included the Undersecretary for Arts Affairs, Qasim Taher Al-Sudani, and members of the ministerial working group. The purpose was to complete the government program’s requirements and implement directives from the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ms. Abdul Wahid highlighted the necessity of crafting a comprehensive government program with realistic priorities. She emphasized that clear implementation plans, defined timelines, and monitoring mechanisms are crucial to efficiently achieving the ministry’s objectives. The minister underlined the importance of continued coordination among relevant entities to enhance the culture and tourism sectors while preserving Iraq’s cultural heritage.



Undersecretary for Arts Affairs, Qasim Al-Sudani, presented the projects and proposals developed by the working group. He elaborated on the preparation mechanisms and implementation stages, addressing the significant challenges these programs face. Al-Sudani stressed the importance of integrated efforts to overcome these challenges within the specified timeframe.



The meeting featured a review of the program’s projects and discussions on 16 key themes. These included revitalizing religious tourism, developing international museum offerings, enhancing cultural security, and initiatives to support the cultural and tourism sectors, aiming to improve service levels.
