Baghdad: The Ministry of Culture has announced an upcoming educational seminar aimed at promoting a culture of integrity, honesty, and transparency within public service sectors. The event is being organized by the Department of Administrative and Financial Affairs, with representation from the Training and Development Department, in collaboration with the Federal Integrity Commission/Department of Education and Public Relations. Scheduled for Wednesday, July 22, 2026, the seminar will be held at the Ishtar Hall in the Ministry’s headquarters.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the seminar commenced with opening remarks from Dr. Ali Redha Abdul Hamoud, Director General of the Department of Administrative and Financial Affairs. He underlined the significance of upholding integrity, uprightness, and transparency in public service, while also adhering to laws and regulations to protect public funds. Dr. Abdul Hamoud highlighted the directives from the Prime Minister and the Federal Government concerning the fight against corruption and the accountability of individuals who breach the law.
Dr. Abdul Hamoud further stressed that all employees, irrespective of their roles, have a duty to comply with the laws and protect public resources. He affirmed the state’s commitment to enforcing the law and holding individuals accountable for any involvement in the misappropriation or wastage of public resources. Employees were urged to avoid actions that could damage their own reputations or that of their institutions.
The seminar featured a lecture by Soran Dilawar Hussein, a legal advisor at the Federal Integrity Commission. The lecture focused on issues such as illicit enrichment, amendments to the Integrity Commission Law, and the State and Public Sector Employees’ Discipline Law. It also addressed the responsibilities of public employees and actions considered criminal offenses when committed by public officials, emphasizing the need for legal awareness and the promotion of integrity and transparency in the workplace.
