Baghdad: The Ministry of Education has announced the opening of electronic applications to schools for gifted students for the academic year 2026-2027. This initiative follows the approval of admission instructions by the Minister of Education, allowing applications to be submitted from Thursday, July 9, 2026, until Friday, July 31, 2026, through a specified online link.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry has outlined that students must achieve a minimum average of 95% to be eligible for admission. For students applying to Ishik and Jagh schools in the Kirkuk Governorate, a minimum score of 665 is required. Additionally, students are restricted from applying simultaneously to schools for gifted students, schools for distinguished students, and Baghdad College high schools.

The Ministry also announced that the achievement test is scheduled for Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 9:00 AM at the respective schools. The test will evaluate students in subjects such as Arabic, English, mathematics, and science. Applicants are required to bring a printed copy of the online application form with their photograph and an identification document on the test day.

The admission regulations provide specific provisions for students from martyrs’ families, allowing them to be accepted with a grade of 90%, which is five points lower than the standard requirement. These students, along with those from Al-Farah Model Schools, are exempted from geographical and capacity constraints. Furthermore, accelerated students in the primary stage with a minimum grade of 75% in the second-round ministerial exams are accepted, exempting them from capacity requirements and the achievement test.

The General Directorate of Public, Private, and Foreign Education, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Educational Planning, has facilitated the launch of the online application platform for distinguished and gifted students’ schools.
