Baghdad: The Ministry of Education has officially announced that the 2026-2027 academic year will commence on September 20th. This decision, directed by Minister of Education Abdul Karim Abtan al-Jubouri, outlines the schedule for both teaching and administrative staff, as well as students.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the directive specifies that teaching and administrative staff are expected to begin their duties on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Subsequently, the academic year for students will start on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

The Ministry of Education has urged all provincial directorates of education to adhere to these timelines. They are tasked with ensuring that all necessary preparations are completed in order to welcome students for the upcoming academic year.
