Baghdad: The Ministry of Education has instructed private universities to complete program accreditation and halt admissions to departments that fail to meet these requirements. The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has emphasized the importance of adhering to program accreditation to ensure the continuity of educational services.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry announced in a press release that compliance committees under the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority will recommend suspending admissions to departments lacking program accreditation. This directive aligns with Paragraph (2) of Article (38) of the Private Higher Education Law No. (25) of 2016.

The Ministry’s statement also highlighted the role of compliance committees in recommending enrollment capacity limits and suspending admissions if universities do not meet requirements related to tuition fees, tax procedures, and social security contributions, as per existing legislation.
