Baghdad: The Ministry of Education has officially announced the launch of applications for the elite student admission channel at public universities. This initiative is set to commence for the 2026/2027 academic year, aiming to attract high-achieving students to various academic programs.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has specified that the students eligible to apply through this channel must be graduates of secondary school from the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic years. These students, from both scientific and literary branches, are required to have an average of 90% or higher. The programs available for application include those within the Colleges of Administration and Economics, focusing on departments such as Business Administration, Statistics, Public Administration, Industrial Management, Accounting, Economics, and Financial and Banking Sciences. Additionally, opportunities are available within the Colleges of Law, Education, and Basic Education at universities in the students’ respective governorates.

The statement further elaborates that graduates from the scientific branch across all governorates have the opportunity to apply to the Industrial Management for Oil and Gas program at the University of Basra for Oil and Gas. However, these students must maintain an average of at least 92%. The ministry has also detailed that the application period will remain open until Sunday, October 4, 2026. The application process starts with students submitting their program choices via the “Qadam Platform” application. Following this, students are required to visit a public university within their governorate for an interview and test.
