Erbil:The Ministry of Environment held a national workshop focusing on the licensing and reduction of hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the workshop was organized in collaboration with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and included participation from experts, specialists, and relevant stakeholders.

The sessions addressed topics such as the ozone layer, the functions of the National Ozone Center, refrigerants, and relevant environmental legislation. Additionally, the requirements of the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol were reviewed.

The workshop discussions also explored licensing mechanisms, electronic application procedures, and the challenges associated with the illicit trade in refrigerants. Participants received both theoretical and practical training on refrigerant detection equipment.
