BAGHDAD: The Ministry of Health in Iraq has reported a significant number of injuries during New Year’s Eve celebrations, totaling 564 incidents across the country. The report highlights the various causes of these injuries, including traffic accidents and injuries related to fireworks and gunshots.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, more than 200 injuries were specifically attributed to traffic accidents that occurred on New Year’s Eve. The Ministry’s Spokesman, Saif Al-Badr, detailed the nature of the injuries sustained from fireworks, which ranged from burns to direct injuries affecting the eyes and limbs. Additionally, the use of firearms during the celebrations resulted in gunshot injuries, some of which were severe enough to necessitate intensive care.

The Ministry’s report underscores the challenges faced during large public celebrations in Iraq, where safety concerns continue to pose significant risks. The data reflects the ongoing need for increased public awareness and safety measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
