Baghdad: The Ministry of Migration and Displacement convened a pivotal meeting at its headquarters in Baghdad, led by Director General of the Department of Migration Affairs, Safaa Hussein Ahmed. The meeting focused on Diwani Order No. 65 of 2024, which seeks to attract and repatriate Iraqi professionals both domestically and internationally.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry’s statement highlighted that representatives from the Ministries of Higher Education, Foreign Affairs, Labor, and Social Affairs participated in the discussions. The primary agenda was to establish theoretical and practical frameworks necessary for completing a comprehensive study aimed at easing the return of Iraqi professionals.
The meeting provided a platform to address various conditions that must be met by individuals with scientific expertise. Additionally, the discussions identified existing problems and obstacles hindering their repatriation. Considerations also included the potential privileges and incentiv
es that could be offered to encourage their return, which will be incorporated into the study’s content.
