Baghdad: The General Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs at the Ministry of Interior has announced the successful recovery of one of the key figures in international drug trafficking networks. This significant development follows the directives of Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, alongside the focused efforts of Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir al-Shammari, in addressing the concerns related to drug traffickers sought by the Iraqi judiciary.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the operation was carried out by a specialized team led by the Director General of Narcotics Affairs. This team was formed as part of a concerted effort to tackle drug trafficking through intensive collaboration with neighboring and friendly countries. The successful arrest of the network leader was achieved through a qualitative operation involving high-level international security coordination.
The Directorate further explained that the recovery operation was made possible through strategic coordination with officials and specialists in one of the neighboring countries. This collaboration focused on the exchange of wanted individuals between the involved nations, as part of implementing relevant agreements and treaties in this field.
